Foundations Christian Montessori Academy has seen consistent growth since opening its doors in August of 2007. After growing to its limits in their Lakewood Ranch campus, Foundations relocated to 4141 DeSoto Road where they now have an over 60-acre campus. Foundations Christian Montesorri Academy occupies over 35,000 square feet of dedicated classroom space, administrative offices, and an auditorium. Outdoors they have a huge playground and a full-sized grass playing field.
They serve a wide age-range of children from infants and toddlers to pre-school primary, elementary, and middle school programs. They also offer service contracts for students with an IEP from a public school. They are also strong on fine arts enrichment with instruction in general music, choir, and musical theatre (with acting, dance, and voice instruction). They provide additional electives in art, Spanish language, and physical education.
While the teacher: student ratio varies depending on the grade level, the classrooms I observed on a recent visit were peaceful and well-organized. We know kids can get rambunctious, but these classes were not loud or chaotic. The students were engaged and on task working well with their teachers.
The classrooms and campus were clean, spacious, and welcoming.
When considering a private school it is very important to review the accreditation and educational affiliations. Foundations Christian Montessori Academy is nationally accredited by the League of Christian Schools.
Foundations Christian Montessori Academy also holds membership with the following educational organizations: International Montessori Council, Florida League of Christian Schools, International League of Christian Schools, and the Florida Association of Academic Non-Public Schools
Just as important, Foundations Christian Montessori Academy is licensed by the Sarasota County Department of Environmental Health Childcare Licensing and is registered with the Department of Education as a private, non-public school.
